Department Assistant (Internship Program)
Assist the faculty or staff members of a specific department with various duties including secretarial, networking, and inventory. Job-Specific Responsibilities:
What You Will Do
- Communicate professionally with internal and external partners, administrators, practitioners, staff, and students (current and prospective) on behalf of the department’s faculty or staff.
- Manage calendars and take notes for meetings as needed.
- Schedule meetings and provide logistical support for department coordinator.
- Retrieve research resources, provide occasional editorial assistance, submit materials for distribution on campus and in the community.
- Plan events: communicate with guests, reserve rooms, order catering, and assist with managing logistics.
- Prepare meeting documentation, assist with managing filing systems and maintaining office inventory.
- Collaborate with fellow Faculty Department Assistants on projects and divisional activities.
- Move projects forward and continually look for ways to leverage faculty time to best advantage for students and the community.
- Curate content for Program website and social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), including for personnel and event updates. Coordinate with external media/web designer and posts content for Program events.
- Manage Program database and annual/semi-annual newsletter(s) as needed.
- Report regularly to Faculty director on work progress and all Program activities.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications: A minimum of 2 quarters or 25 credits completed. Must have a 2.0 or higher in BUSN 216 and BUSN 218. Interest in office administration, customer service experience and marketing.
Additional Qualifications: Business Pathway students are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet tools, with a willingness to learn new technologies. Demonstrated experience prioritizing tasks to changing needs, and seeing tasks to completion in a timely manner. Excellent analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle sensitive matters with tact.
